About CoraleVault

Why CoraleVault exists and what makes it different

Why This Exists

In 2020, I was tired of:

  • Paying monthly fees just to access my own passwords
  • Trusting big companies with my most sensitive data
  • Worrying about cloud breaches exposing my accounts

So I built CoraleVault: a password manager that’s free, private, and actually yours.

What Makes It Different

You Own Your Data

Your passwords live on your computer, not someone else’s server. No company can:

  • Shut down and lock you out
  • Get hacked and expose your data
  • Raise prices or change terms
  • Sell your data to advertisers

Free Means Free

No trials. No premium tiers. No “pay to unlock features.” If you need a password manager, you should have one—without opening your wallet.

Open Source Transparency

Every line of code is public on GitHub. Security researchers, developers, and anyone curious can verify there’s no sneaky stuff happening.

The Journey

2020 - Started as a weekend project

2020-2025 - 5 years of development, testing, and hardening

October 2025 - Released to the world under GPL v3 (free forever)

November 2025 - Growing community, new features in the works

What’s Next?

  • Browser extensions - Auto-fill passwords in Chrome, Firefox, etc.
  • Mobile apps - iOS and Android versions
  • Cloud sync - Optional encrypted sync (your choice!)
  • Two-factor auth (TOTP) - Extra security for unlocking the app

See the full roadmap on GitHub.

Who Made This?

Coralesoft - Developer, privacy advocate, and someone who got tired of subscription fatigue.

FAQ

Is it really free?

Yes! No subscriptions, no ads, no premium features. Free forever.

Can I trust it?

All the code is public on GitHub. Security experts can (and do) review it. Don’t trust, verify!

What if you abandon it?

Because it’s open source, the community can take over. You’ll never be locked out of your passwords.

How is this different from other password managers?

vs. Cloud managers (1Password, LastPass, etc.)

  • ✅ Free forever (vs. monthly fees)
  • ✅ Your computer only (vs. cloud servers)
  • ✅ Open source (vs. proprietary)

vs. KeePass

  • ✅ Modern codebase (C++, built 2020-2025)
  • ✅ Native cross-platform (vs. ports)
  • ⚠️ Smaller ecosystem (but growing!)

Both are great! Choose what works for you.

Technical Details

For the curious:

  • Built with modern C++
  • Bank-level encryption (AES-256)
  • OWASP 2025 compliant security
  • Works on Windows, Mac, and Linux
  • Zero data collection, zero telemetry
